What’s your inspiration? Part 1

Origami For Good is a non-profit that makes and sends origami to facilities and establish social connection for others. However this brings up the question; what else are we and what goals do we contribute to the world?

One of our inspirations are the Sustainable Development Goals. If you don’t know what they are, you can click here to find out more.

So exactly, what goals do we go by? Well, here are some of the SDG Goals we feel inspired by and explanations and plans for the future to achieve them.

No Poverty - We plan to distribute origami art to homeless shelters or other places that support no poverty, along with donating essential items for low-income families.

Zero Hunger - We hope to donate food and snacks including an origami piece someday to local food pantries or drives.

Good Health and Well-Being - Strengthening the mental health of others by providing them a sense of mindfulness and social connection with origami. We also donate origami to hospitals.

Gender Equality - Supporting women’s health, rights, and education through monetary donations or non-monetary donations. OFG is also a women-run non-profit.

Reduced Inequalities - We believe inclusivity is so important and vital. That’s why we chose origami because of how the diversity of the designs allows anyone to make origami, and we mean it. No matter the background experience, the ability, race, gender, status, location, etc. you will always be included.

Responsible Consumption and Production - Paper should never go to waste. Hopefully one day we can host an event that involves volunteers learning how to make their own paper out of recycled paper and using it to create origami.

Life Below Water/Life On Land - We care about animals whether on land or in the water. We hope to run fundraising events and advocate for endangered animals or habitats in the future.

Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions - This is one of the biggest goals yet. One day, Origami For Good will become global and partner with bigger missions to bring peace to this world. We plan a variety of things such as making origami for refugee shelters, fundraising, advocacy, donations, and much more.

Even though some of the goals are not listed here, we certainly still do recognize and support them. Origami For Good strives for as many of the Sustainable Development Goals are possible however some goals are shown more than others. If we had to narrow the top goals down to the top three, they would be Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, Reduced Inequalities, and Good Health and Well-Being.
